PEYTO LAKE

October 2, 2016

I promised you pictures from my Banff trip to Peyto Lake.  Banff National Park is considered part of the Canadian Rockies.  This was ultimately one of the most naturally, beautiful views I have ever seen. Only a short hike to the top but didn’t want to leave.  The background looks unreal and makes the ideal Christmas card.  Hope your enjoyment of the pictures comes close to my love of this destination.  You know I love it when this is my second trip in 5 months, and am anticipating another! It’s a taste of the beauty I anticipate in heaven!

KAYAKING IN CANADA

September 10, 2016

Time to add more photos from my most recent trip to Canada. Starting at 7am on day 2, we went kayaking on Lake Louise.  Another blogger advised to kayak early before the 10 am tour buses. When I was here in late March, the lake was frozen with no tour buses lining the streets or tourists with selfie sticks.  Thankfully, my photos of a PEACEFUL environment were taken before their arrival.  It took about an hour to circle the lake in the kayak. However, at 30 degrees, I was totally unprepared.  Gloves would have been appreciated.  My expectations were for 45-55 degrees.  Thankfully, my wonderful companion paddled, while I remained bundled up!  This is a highly recommended activity if visiting Lake Louise.   No time to kayak? the photography is absolutely spectacular!!!

Check back in a few days for photos of our hike to Peyto Lake!!

LAKE LOUISE

September 6, 2016

After a trip to Banff last March, I knew I would return. While I adore the snow, I prefer to see the crystal blue waters that Lake Louise is known for.  Having a 3 day holiday weekend, I booked a quick trip. The photos below are from the first evening at the Fairmont Chateau, Lake Louise. More photos to come from this trip 🙂

SINGLE VISION

August 19, 2016

A few years ago, I discovered a fun Facebook page with videos of exotic animals. Some, chronicled the owner teaching his bear to pool surf. Who wouldn’t want to watch these videos??  I enjoyed sharing them with others.  Well, earlier this year, I planned a cruise to the Bahamas. To my surprise, the cruise was ported in Florida where this wildlife sanctuary is located.  I immediately planned my visit and started counting down the days. After completing the cruise, my boyfriend and I rented a car and ventured two and a half hours to visit Single Vision.

A little background of this facility: Single Vision is an nonprofit endangered wildlife reserve in Melrose, Florida.  It is home to lions, tigers, leopards, panthers, bobcats, bears and other species of exotic animals.  The entire facility is operated by one man, Carl Bovard, who loves and cares for each of these animals. You can visit his website at www.singlevisioninc.org and definitely check out the Facebook page to enjoy his videos.

We received a personal tour of the grounds from Carl. We met the animals and learned how each ended up at Single Vision. We enjoyed feeding and interacting with them. What impressed me most was the love and adoration these massive wild creatures had for Carl.  They would be content playing with him all day. I am already anticipating a return visit with the possibility of swimming with the bears!  How fun would that be!!

THE PARKER

July 9, 2016

I love long weekends where I can travel for 2 hours and have a perfect getaway.  Kayla, a dear high school friend, joined me for this adventure. Destination…The Parker Hotel!  It has always peaked my interest for its unique indoor/outdoor decor. The grounds are fun to meander. Without signs, we were constantly getting lost in gorgeous areas.  We discovered tennis courts, hammocks, croquette, lemonade stands, water fountains, pools, and even a secret garden with white bunnies. While the weather was HOT ( 115 degrees hot!), I can’t wait to return!!!

Unfortunately, I have no photos of the adorable lemonade stand.  However, here are two images from the internet so you can appreciate it!

CANCUN

June 10, 2016

Nothing is better then a tropical getaway for your birthday, am I right?

My first trip to Cancun, Mexico was a bittersweet experience. The Finest Playa Mujeres is an all- inclusive resort that has 10 pools, 12 restaurants and 16 bars/lounges with wonderful 24 hour room service. Be prepared to gain a few pounds 😉

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and sincerely and felt immediately at home. The weather was an ideal 85 degrees with only occasional warm rain, which is my personal favorite. A complication with tropical destinations however, is spontaneous thunder storms. Unfortunately, as we were ready to depart, one hindered our exit. This resulted in a lovely night of sleeping in the airport for 16 longgg hours. Even with this unexpected delay, we had a truly spectacular time in a picture- perfect destination. We are thankful to be home with wonderful memories!

JOSHUA TREE

June 2, 2016

Joshua Tree National Park is one of my favorite getaway locations that is close to home.  Accompanying me were my brothers Sean and Nathan and friend Jen.  We stayed at a perfect little AirBNB rental in the middle of no where. I chose this specific rental because of an outdoor bathtub with warm running water.  How fun is that!  A total selling point for me.   The house was located on the outskirts of the National Park.  We ventured inside as far as the Cholla Cactus Garden.  The only downside is unexpected temperatures.  When we arrived, it was in the 70’s and by the next morning it had dropped to 48 degrees…. brrrrrr.

Enjoy the pics!!!

BANFF, CANADA

May 23, 2016

WOW!  This was such a remarkable vacation!  I would recommend this trip to EVERYONE.  I decided to take my mom on a little mid-week getaway to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.  I kept our itinerary simple and based everything around dog sledding.  This was a dream come true for me.  Being a proud owner of two huskies, I’ve felt a calling to create my own dog sledding team.  Ok!  Ok!  Not really, but I have always wanted to experience it.  Our guide was Kingmik Dog Sled Tours, very informative and such an enjoyable ride through the gorgeous national park.  The Fairmont Lake Louise was a picture perfect hotel.  Pictures of this hotel will entice you to visit during any season.  Banff National Park has abundant hiking and site seeing which will keep everyone entertained. Such a successful mother-daughter trip.  I hope to return soon.  Enjoy the pictures!!
